@Heaven197987 that really takes away your childhood and forces maturity

YES omg I have been grieving the loss of my childhood via neglect. It’s been so painful and awful.

@AthenaAsh I agree. I wake up throwing tantrums that I have to continously grow up

@dragonSage I get that. I have random bouts of sadness and I start crying. Or I get restless and toss and turn all night

Yeah it wasn't only my mental health being neglected I pretty much took care of myself and siblings at 7

I remember telling my mom I was super depressed when I was 14 and she told I shouldn't feel that way. I think that's when I started to realize the emotional disconnect happening and when I bring it up now at 24. She asks so surprised.it makes me so angry

One thing to keep in mind, though..... depending on your age, they may not have known about it. When I was little, very few kids were diagnosed with ADHD, autism, and other things that are more easily recognized now. And the access to information is totally different now, too.

Yup :’) Was just thinking about this on the way home from work today- I’ve had chronic fatigue for more of my life than I haven’t. Wonder what I’d be like if my parents had actually been concerned about me instead of frustrated.

Mine was also my mom realizing I have autism and not telling me because “I would take it too literally” which caused me to be misdiagnosed for 4 years with bipolar disorder. It makes it really hard not to resent my mom.

Sometimes it’s hard to not be angry that the people who loved you couldn’t tell how much you were struggling.

Yes! Even talking to my parents about it now it's like "hmm maybe we should have looked into that when you were younger" Ya think? Being diagnosed at 38 sucks.
