My aunt and uncle decided to put together a book about my daddy (who passed in 2004 suddenly in a car accident) for my nephew (who is named after him) who was just born of stories about him so he can know who his grandpa was when he gets older because my brother was barely 6 and doesn't remember daddy. I was a month away from 13 so I remember a lot. They want me to write down stories about daddy. I have put it off all day because I don't want to go there in my mind. It is so much trauma. I was so close to my daddy and I've pushed down so much emotion that I am a wreck over it still. I don't know what to do.

Do you have a counselor you can process these feeling with? That may help get the hurt out in a safe place and open yourself up to sharing some of those great memories. I know I still think of my dad every day and am crying right now while typing this, but that's okay. These feelings just affirm for me how important he was and still is in my life. The hurt can lead to healing. I wish you all the best on your journey.šŸ˜

@klazikel I have a therapist, but we mostly talk about my more recent trauma as that is what is impacting my life the hardest currently. I don't see her again until February 2nd because there are only 2 therapists in the clinic now and it is a government funded clinic so there are a lot of patients to see. I just have to bull through and press the feelings down again until I can see her again.

I'm sorry for your lose. If it's too soon, it's too soon. Tell your Aunt and Uncle that. You'll write when you're ready, or maybe it'll come out in music, in drawing or something else, but the most important thing is that you are ready to think and feel and face those memories, otherwise it'll be more traumatic for you. I hope that helps.

@OnyxWarrior The thing is, they need this now and I want my nephew to know about daddy. He needs to know the sweet, loving man that his grandfather was. It is important to me for him to know, but the feelings about this is going to hurt

@SoxyWoxy From what you've written, he will in time, as your Aunt and Uncle have put together a book, so he has some stories already to gain from them. Your Nephew may get overwhelmed getting everything at once. Your memories could be part two to the Book? A suggestion. At the end of the day, it is up to. Or you could add one or two now, and when you are ready later on add more memories to the Book? The Book will probably grow as time goes on, as you all remember more.
