I use an antiseptic soap I got from my dermatologist and I love it. Its a prescription cvs brand. I only use it in the areas where I have inflammation ans I use three other soaps for the rest of my body. Its alot but i’ve been doing this for about a month and this is the first time my body has not reacted badly. There is also another cleaning thing you can get from your doctor. Its called Hibiclens. Keeps the area clean and you would use it after you get out of the shower as many times as told by your doctor

This isn’t technically either but it’s in the same vein. Wearing compression clothing specifically compression shorts for me in addition to taking my medication has almost completely stopped new flare ups from happening for me. Just keeping the prone areas dry, clean and friction free will also do wonders. If you own a uterus taking female specific vitamins may also help but the thing that did the most for me was spironolactone and birth control.

@Soskae Is Spironolactone and birth control the only medications you need? How often do you have to wear compression shorts to keep the HS away, and where can quality ones be bought or what brand works for you? Sorry if I'm being too invasive, please feel free not to reply if you don't want to. I'm dealing with a flare-up of my own right now and preventatives isn't something I knew was possible before now.

@Hiraeth no feel free to ask any questions you’d like and I’ll answer if I’m comfortable. All I do for my HS is those two medications. I wear compression shorts anytime I am going to be walking for more than 30 minutes so pretty much everyday but they are extremely comfortable in my opinion. I don’t think brand matters as much as the fit. They should be snug but not leaving deep marks in your skin. The spironolactone and birth control did take a few months to work and the longer I’ve been on them the less HS symptoms I’m having and I was classified as moderate severity. I also like to try to make sure that my more HS prone areas get airflow for a good amount of time each day.
