I got diagnosed with this illness or disability or disease whatever you call it in February of this year, and I don't understand it, and sometimes I feel like its a curse on me. I also feel alone. And my question is do others feel that way? And I am in therapy for all my mental health issues and he tells me I'm not alone but its hard not to feel that way.

lillypod421 no problem bpd is so complicated there are 9 criterias of bpd I have 8 of them. Do some research on YouTube find a community online ur not a hopeless cause though it sure feels like it especially when u got people around u that don't understand or don't want too. DBT dialectical behavior therapy I heard is one treatment they use for Borderline personality disorder. It's retraining your thinking. Bpd is alot in ur thinking that turns into ur emotions. They say bpd is compared to a burn victim because the emotions are sooo intense u go into panic the feelings are so intense either u go into fight or flight mode run from it instead of facing it. Fear grips us but it's possible to change this unfortunately it doesn't come over night and it's frustrating because we go into all or nothing mode thinking what's tbe use things aren't changing fast enough or our feelings come in such waves then we want to throw in tbe towel. Am I making sense saying this

U are NOT alone I've had this for many years I ran a group on Facebook one time for people like us bpd is a complex illness it takes time to learn educate yourself as much as possible and learn just because u have this does not mean you can't change the behaviors that go with it it takes time don't make excuses for unhealthy behaviors bpd is a explanation not excuse. Find a good help support group one that will encourage but also speak truth in love to help you overcome bpd behaviors it's important to be real with others and yourself and have a accountability person who will address things u say and do that harm u and others yes it's hard hearing truth but a real friend speaks truth because they want the best for you find a mentor who can mentor you into becoming the person u can be. U are not alone in this battle

Brittbratt thank you so much. I have both borderline and bipolar so it is so confusing. And I honestly don't understand it as much. But I will definitely do that

It's a very hard thing to try to understand in general. Many people get it and bipolar confused. Borderline is the rapid changes in mood while bipolar is the cycle that you go through. I've been dealing with borderline for a few years. Do as much research into it as you can. Sometimes the best places to look are books in the library.

Its been so hard because I don't understand it. And I don't see how I have bpd but my therapist is trying to help me figure out all the symptoms I have.

It's a rough thing. It's not always manageable I struggle with this stuff on a daily basis and it makes it hard for me to work.

I'm fairly new to BPD. If you want you can text or call me 847-331-5963. I have way too much to type right now. All I can say is the disease has made me paranoid, exhausted, and I have alot of identity issues to the point where I look at old pictures and such of myself and don't think that it's me
