What non medical , non addictive coping mechanisms do you use to get your anxiety under control?

Talking about my anxious illogical thinking with someone so I can get their external perspective. And sitting in nature, just listening to the sound of life around me.

Trying different coping mechanisms in a row until one works helps me and then the next time I feel that specific way I can go back to what I know what works. And if it doesn't work, I move onto the next coping mechanism. That's where having an app or a list that I find online helps (sometimes both). I also take supplements like magnesium and ashwaghandha. I also use a sage and lavender room spray and peppermint and lavender essential oils in a diffuser.

I guess itā€™s just important to know which self care activity YOU need at that moment. Sometimes I realize Iā€™m just overstimulated so minimizing stimulation helps. Or sometimes distraction helps more

Therapy absolutely! Also distraction, self care activities like taking baths or putting on aromatherapy diffusers. Sometimes journaling to get it out! Sometimes mindfulness helps, sometimes CBT helps - catching your irrational thoughts and realizing they are irrational.

Therapy, distraction (clean, go see a friend, play a game, read a book),

Therapy has helped immensely. Also Iā€™ve been gluten free for a year and a half now and it has helped a ton.

Journaling and going to therapy, mostly.

@ArtMouse That's a great idea! I want to go back to therapy. I usually color, listen to music, do a relaxing activity .
