Any other college students (I'm online only) absolutely dread class? I've been skipping half the time, still doing my work but it's hard...I think it's partially because this isn't what I wanna do with my time and partially because of my situational depression.

I’m not in college, I’m a senior in highschool, and I have the same problem, my depression makes it so that I feel like I’m wasting the life I have left by doing things I hate. I am so close to just quoting school, and I totally get what your going through. I with you and i think we can do it💕

My classes only require work to get done by certain days so I don't have to attend any lectures luckily! But I am over it and do all my homework last minute anymore. I have 18 credit hours left including the 6 I'm in right now

I’m in the same boat, I’m transferring colleges in hopes to go in person and it’ll be better. Honestly I think this is my last semester though. I don’t have any motivation for it anymore. I just don’t see the point.

I absolutely relate. It’s hard to get motivated for college stuff. Maybe if there’s a school-related goal for yourself, you can focus on that? Even if the goal is just passing your classes, it’s something to get you to start prioritizing tasks and stuff

It’s been overwhelming for me and I’ve been thinking of withdrawing but I’m getting by. You said it’s not what you want to do with your time, well maybe you could change your major though that may be expensive but it’s better than not enjoying what you’re doing and regretting it later in life. And maybe traditional college isn’t for you, some people study a trade or get certifications or do their passions another way though it seems increasingly unrealistic nowadays, but it’s possible if you work towards it

I had one assignment a week and it was harder for me to do than regular shit I did everyday man. But I finished somehow you can do it i believe in you

I’m not sure if this will work for others because I know there is such a high level of activation energy required to do things one doesn’t feel like doing in depression, but I found that when I was outside of my room and doing something productive like attending class, that usually worked better for me than being in my room. A public library, common area in the dorms, etc. easier said than done but it helped when I could do it

Yup! Esp with my other health issues the depression just gets worse. But on particular hard days I'll try to reward myself with something small like an ice cream or a new stuffy

Do you work? Do you find your job more engaging than schoolwork? If you don’t work yet, try out an easy job and see what you think

maybe find something that you Do want to do with your time/switch classes to ones that are more engaging for you. I dropped out because of my depression.. Working has been better for me.

I agree I've skipped a lot and were basically just started the semster. I'd say just take it one day at a time that's what I'm trying to do and if you skip a few prioritize that class once you feel motivated again

online class is oddly more difficult for me. it’s much easier to give into the temptation of shutting a computer. be gentle and remember you’re a human!

Completely! Online class ESPECIALLY was awful for me! Be gentle with yourself, it is very hard.
