I have never told anyone in full what has happened to me. I'm scared I'll have to in therapy so i haven't bothered finding one since I was diagnosed in 2019. There's also other reasons like just being afraid of people judging and not being able to afford it. I also didn't bother going back to the doc that I told a little to. I guess I just want to know if anyone else had fears like this and how you chose a therapist if you did

I absolutely had those fears and avoided the subject with therapists for 5 years and in the end I ended up in a trauma treatment center for 9 months because I didn’t deal with it. I really recommend finding a trauma therapist and trying EMDR. it saved my life

Hi Spooky.. although therapy sounds like a scary place, I can tell you from my personal experience of not dealing with my trauma that I spent decades in self-abuse to try to fill what I felt was wrong with me. One day, when I was on of all things social media, I came across an advertisement for my psychotherapist that I have now. I love her. She's helping me take my life back. I'm 58 years old I've been in the therapy almost 4 years. My entire life was spent in fear of one thing or another and I was afraid of reaching out for help I was afraid of the stigma of mental illness. There is nothing wrong with you if you are having issues with your emotions your thoughts. I went through the same thing of trying to hide my mental illness for so very long and all I did was make an incomplete person longing to be "normal". I urge you to step out of your comfort zone and to find a therapist that's a perfect fit for you. If you don't like one therapist go to another. I don't know where you're located, and I know about not being able to afford to go to the doctor because that was the way I spent 99% of my life. I would search Google for psychotherapists in your area and start there. Just write the names down. I know it can be so scary, but what's even scarier is not living a real life. So just take baby steps. As long as you're moving forward you're making progress. I love you and I hope you find what you are looking for🤗🤗🤗
