If your parents are highly restrictive of you and if they are extremely nosy, it might be a good idea to do an online journal with a new account, if you can. That way you have passwords to prevent them from getting in; paper journals can be found and read. You can try stick-on earrings if you don’t have pierced ears and claim they’re stickers from a feminine friend if found. But typically, you can easily take them on and off and dispose of them quickly in an emergency. Have a solid support system somewhere, anywhere; it can be here on Alike or other online platforms, a therapist (unless under the age of 16*), an online support group, etc.

Coming from a family who tells me to “shut up” when expressing any feeling of transitioning or emotions about my situation, I can understand. For me, I write my thoughts in a journal every day and affirm myself at who I am, expressing my pronouns and identity moderately in public when appropriate and casually dressing more to what I feel (I am FtNB) and working on my voice and mannerisms in my own. I know it is only temporary to live with your parents but in the future you will not deal with their restriction or denial and will afford to budget your own journey of transitioning or buying clothes and therapy if needed.
