I can't get a doctor to listen to me about my fatigue. I keep getting told it's my depression or it's because it's winter. I've been experiencing fatigue for 11 months now and it's impacted my work a lot. Can anyone help with how to get a doctor to actually pay attention to me?

Ask for a different doctor and then request blood tests for autoimmune and vitamin levels etc as you’ve been struggling with chronic fatigue for 11 months specially like that and hopefully it’ll help you get some answers

Definitely ask for your thyroid levels, vitamin D and B to be tested. If your doctor refuses tell them to mark in your charts as a refusal (that pretty much always shows them you’re serious) and if that doesn’t light a fire under their butts go to a different doctor like an endocrinologist, GP, nurse practitioner, or honestly instacare. I couldn’t get my doctors to test my sodium levels within a few days (I thought I was critically low) so I just went into instacare and asked for an IV and an electrolyte test and they did it with no fight.

Also, request blood work if they won't send you to a specialist . If they kick back, demand it. Fatigue is often an imbalance of hormones or nutrients (or both in my case). At the least, it's a "trust but verify" method that causes no lasting harm.

I have sleep apnea and B-12 deficiency....I would ask for extra sleep and blood tests.

Are you able to see a sleep specialist? They do sleep tests, and push for the multiple latency day time study too. See if you have narcolepsy. It took me years and advocating for myself to get diagnosed

One suggestion is to change doctors and seek a second, third, or even fourth opinion until you find a doctor who listens to your concerns. Be assertive about your experiences, keep a running note of symptoms, and consider bringing someone with you to appointments who can help advocate for you. Asking for specific tests may also show that you've done research and should be taken seriously.
