Seeking Advice on Endo Diagnosis with Other Chronic Illnesses

I don’t have an endo diagnosis yet but I’m just curious… What has your experience getting diagnosed been like with having other chronic illnesses? I’m young, and have been having chronic health issues my whole life and having endo symptoms since I had my first period. Many symptoms I’ve discounted just thinking they were part of my 3 other major things, especially with me having autoimmune diseases. After having a large painful ovarian cyst, my doctor thinks endometriosis is a possibility. I guess I’m just wanting to glean info from anyone who has ever been in a similar place!

Hi....I had confirmed endometriosis. I say "had" because I ended up getting a total hysterectomy which took care of the excruciating pain I dealt with daily for literally years. Its a miserable disease and I wouldn't wish it on anyone. I was chronically anemic, ridiculously long periods and I should have owned stock in feminine products, LOL. I had 2 major surgeries before my hyst to clean out the endometriosis. In all 3 surgeries I had to be completely opened up because there was so much to remove. My first surgery, I was cut bone to bone, the second and third was belly button to pelvic bone. All 3 were at least 3-4 hours long. Let me know if I can answer any questions about it.

thank you so much for your reply! I’m so sorry you had to suffer with it for so long, but so glad you were finally able to get some relief through the surgery. Obviously I am very new to this, but As I find out more about the possibility of having it I would love to ask you some questions (:

I was diagnosed after going in for a complicated cyst, laparoscopic procedure and they found a big ole mess in there. She ended up cutting me wide open to clean up the mess. It’s really a bummer that is the only really good way to say, positively it’s endometriosis. I finally had a hysterectomy a couple years later. Any questions I’d love to try an answer.
