Does anybody use anything like wheelchairs I have crutches but recently it has become more and more difficult to stand up for more than 3-5 minutes and crutches are becoming awkward to use, I am very aware of imposter syndrome and do feel that way however I would love some guidance on how people started using more mobility aids

Yeah, I have spina bifida and I’ve been using wheelchair since I’ve been in six grade. What type of mobility aids were you looking for?

Re: the imposter syndrome, there is literally NOTHING worth more than the independence, freedom and comfort mobility aids bring, not even your own sense of imposter. Even if a mobility aid helps you a TINY bit it's still worth it, that's what mobility aids are for. Your comfort is worth so much more than any sort of judgment or snarkiness that may come from other people or even yourself.
Hey! So I got started with mobility aids by literally buying a £20 used chair off eBay and found it really helped but was too big for me. Eventually I 'worked my way' up with mobility aids, figuring out what I needed (e.g. A lighter manual wheelchair so I can load it into my car, an electric wheelchair for longer distances) and slowly saved up over time (with a little help from raising money from birthday fundraisers) If you're looking for crutches that are less awkward to use, I'd check out the smartCRUTCH. They're fully adjustable and designed to be a lot more comfortable. I also know Cool Crutches do nice designs and patterns on crutches and you can even design your own. This is all aesthetics, but I think Cool Crutches have ergonomic handles which are easier on the hands
I don't love sitting in my wheelchair but it beats constantly hitting my head or falling ❤️ if it's hard for you I would suggest a chair. On my good days i use my walker.
Hi there! I currently don’t have a diagnosis right now so I am also very aware of imposter syndrome. I recently got fitted for my custom wheelchair only for longer distances. I use crutches to mainly get around everywhere else. If you are struggling recently with your mobility then a wheelchair could definitely be helpful. Feel free to message me if you need any advice or have any questions! :)
What kind of crutches do you have? If they are the ones that go under the arms you might want to try forearm crutches. I use them and they are fantastic. I also have a wheelchair so try to get one with a low back if you want to see what I mean I can pm what I use.

They generally recommend trying a mobility aid if you think it could benefit you and discussing your needs with a healthcare professional for guidance. It's common to feel imposter syndrome, but using a mobility aid can significantly improve your quality of life and help you conserve energy.
