Advice for a Computer-Based Course with Hypermobility?

Hey, new here so sorry if I'm awkward šŸ˜… I'm wondering if anyone has any advice on doing a computer based course with hypermobility? I have it really bad in my hands and struggle with writing, tying laces, doing buttons, that sort of stuff. I'm scared that my hands are going to hold me back in this course. Has any hand/wrist braces or anything helped anyone? Thanks.

      I have tools that let me dictate assignments, record lectures and all sorts. You just need to ask :) and I have a friend who wears cycling gloves when she types for her hypermobility, cause they are a little tight and keep her knuckles in place

      Finger splints! There's a lot out there that look like rings and they help to stabilise your joints for writing and such!

      if you go to a university, they usually have disability services to help with this kind of stuff. iā€™ve been able to have note takers, use audio transcription devices, record lectures, turn in assignments past due dates, have extra time in exams, etc. most professors are also understand if you talk with them before class starts about your hypermobility issues if you canā€™t get an appointment with disability services. question: by computer based do you mean like a computer technology course, or a course that is being held virtually? this will change the advice i have going forward.

        @everythingbagelstan Thank you for your reply. Its a small college and I haven't actually met my professor yet. Its the type of college where you go into the building and sit in a classroom but the actual lesson is online, if that makes sense? I will definitely email the professor and talk to the staff at my college. I don't start till next week so I have a tiny bit of time to prepare and talk to them. I guess it's the feeling of not wanting to bother the staff, y'know? I need to work on that lol. It's a computer based course as well. It's similar to the likes of computing and computer science.

          @GhostieToastie for computer courses i have little info on how to help with that bc idk how deep into coding youā€™ll need to go, which can take a lot of typing effort, which you canā€™t really get accommodations for besides longer time. i would go with the other comment and find braces or other devices that will lessen the strain on your hands and wrists. for online courses, a lot of accommodations from schools work well for that - especially note takers. definitely talk to the professor and find out more information - itā€™s their job to help you! i thought the same until i actually did it and i didnā€™t realize how much i was really suffering before i actually had the accommodations.
