How to get an ASD diagnosis?

I originally thought i maybe had adhd or something else. So i was unsure and it was bugging me so i went to see my gp. I didnt even say much at first and my gp immediately said "i think you're on the spectrum. I think you have aspergers". She said she had noticed from our previous appointments. And then i spoke about all my symptoms and she confirmed that they corresponded with ASD and then i was referred for a diagnosis. Depending where you live this process might be slightly different but my main advice is go and see your doctor and tell them you think you may have ASD. Hopefully they'll listen to you and refer you for a diagnosis. Referral can take a while depending where you live. And im talking months, maybe years. But i hope its not that long for you. Also diagnosis is not always necessary. If youre very sure you have it then id say you have it. Research what support there is and coping methods for yourself. At least while you're waiting for a referral. For the time being try and understand and help yourself while you're waiting for a professional to do that.
