I've been trying to control my type two diabetes by restricting carbs but my bs still runs high. usually in the 300s. I have elevated triglycerides which the dr said makes it difficult to control bs and I am very insulin resistant. I'm gaining weight from the insulin too.. which is bringing me down. anyone else have these issues and know how to overcome them?

Address the triglycerides. Do what you can to avoid beef, nuts and their butters (save walnuts), full fat dairy, cheese and sugary drinks. If they're super high (mine were over 2k at the time of this) avoid fruit too. Also, some meds to try, steglatro and glyburide. I'm not currently on either but was in the past and they did help a lot.

For me, metformin and Ozempic were meds that I couldn’t tolerate. I was so sick that I had to stop them within 6 weeks of starting them. I just feel like I’ll never get my numbers below 150 consistently. I always inwardly chuckle when my dr says 90-130 is the range we are looking for. N then the dr increases the insulin dose again because my body is so resistant. 🥲

The metformin works well to control my sugars however the side effects are pretty harsh for me, so it's a catch 22 for some. I too am gaining weight and finding myself getting more and more depressed. I had major surgery 6 weeks ago and keeping my sugar down is a must as I'm already having issues healing. (Thank God for the wound vac!!) However, I can only take a few steps here and there with the walker, so the constant sitting with my leg up is also increasing my weight :( Some say the metformin helped them to lose weight, I wish that was the case with me! But it's def worth a try if you haven't already to help with your insulin resistance. :)

I’m also having this struggle. I have pcos so I was born with insulin resistance. I take 2 injectable’s daily but not decreasing. I hate to say that I can relate but I completely can. If you want to message me feel free. Maybe together we can find some solutions. It’s a horrible cycle our bodies are in.
