I just had a vivid flash back. and it's been a while since iv has one. I was wondering if anyone had tips on calming themselves down after having one.

When I have flashbacks I do something I like or talk to a friend. It helps me sometimes though those things are to triggering .So at that point I hug a stuff animal so that I can remember I'm safe take care

I have night terrors. My therapist said that when I have one, get up, put my feet on the floor, walk to where I can write something down. Write down just the gist of the dream (I hope it works for flashbacks, too!). Then rewrite the ending. You take control of the situation. You write an ending you like. I must say I'm finally back in therapy after way too long, and I was just given this advice, without a chance to test it yet. (Thank goodness.) It sounds really good though!
