me and my family are gonna be moving and we're still in the looking at places stage. my dad keeps talking about how we might not have a choice but too move into an apartment. my parents are pretty abelist when it comes to autism. they don't support that side of me and I've tried to educate them but they refuse to listen. I'm afraid that if we move to one they'll go back to restricting and holding me down during meltdowns like when I was little. I'm scared if we move I'll become isolated like at the old place and everything will get worse. I'm scared I'll do something because I know damn well the over stimulation I'll get from an apartment and I know my depression will get worse. on top of that, I have no idea how I can help myself transition to the new place when they find one. without actually going there multiple times before we move (I know my parents won't allow that). does anybody have any tips?

I don’t know if this would help you, but if I was moving I would make sure to bring the things that I am already used to (bed, blankets, pillows, lights, stuffed animals, clothes…) so that it feels like I’m in the same place.

Thanks y'all for the advice ^^ I'm still stressed about moving but it's helped a bit doing things related to my special interest

@pinkpuppbutt, I would love to talk if you do but I don't feel comfortable with sharing socials and the care package. I do love the idea of a care package though if that makes sense. I just watch go protect my identity and location as much as possible ^^

I don't know how to help other then offering my support. if you'd like we could exchange some socials and keep in contact? I'd love to talk to you about your special interests! if you'd like (and if it's safe to do so) I'd love to send you a care package or two of stuff that's helped me as well :) let me know and I'll do my best to support you

I find stimming more often can help me when I am stressed. Also tangles help me so I can untangled and fidget with them. Also do things that make you happy. For me that means reading and listening to music.

@nstanley2251 1.) Your special interest is incredibly cool. 2.) Thank you for your advice, I appreciate it. Considering my special interest is fnaf and minecraft and I'm getting a desktop soon, I think that will help a lot so thank you ^^

Being NT and moving is scary. With autism? More so I suggest doing calming exercises, if you have a special interest do that when you get really stressed. Like my special interest is computers, so I disassemble and reassemble electronics
