I'm having a rough time lately. it seems the more pain I'm in with my fibromyalgia the more my ARFID acts up and have more panic attacks surrounding meal times and can only eat single ingredient foods like a plain chicken breast or bowl of green beans. I'm so sick of living like this it's ruining my life and making my families lives harder to live because they have to give into my needs just so I can get by.

@SlothMomma94 I totally hear you, being a single parent, a carer for your kid, and chronically ill are three very stressful things! I'm glad you have your mom's support. Sending love and solidarity

I have never heard of ARFID. I just read a little about it and feel like it fits my food aversion better than sensory processing disorder or anything else I have tried to tie it to. Yes, I have sensory issues with some foods, but there are times that I'm just not hungry or the thought/smell of food isn't appealing. Usually worse when I'm hurting a lot, too hot, or overstimulated. When in my teens and early 20s, it got so bad I was passing out. Simply because food didn't sound/look good or was otherwise unappetizing, so I wouldn't eat.

🙏🏻 Hang in there and don't give up. Also see if there's anything else you can eatcand try combining them in a casserole. That way it doesn't seem so restrictive. Also if you aren't allergic to differents spices and stuff, pick some you like and read up on others that help digestion like ginger and other spices that do. See whst happens.

Fibromyalgia pain is flared up by stress (among other things ofc) as are anxiety-based disorders like ARFID - is there another factor that's been causing high stress for you? Prioritising your mental wellbeing might help reduce both the pain and the food avoidance 💜 When I was at university I was in the same situation as you and struggling a lot, and it turned it wasn't right for me; things have gotten a lot better since I dropped out and spent time recovering. Perhaps there's environmental factors for you as well

@Finleaf a huge protion of my stress comes from my medical stuff as it affects so much and makes life as a single mom of a a kid with medical issues of his own harder but we have moved in with my mom and she is helping with as much of the load as she possibly can

I have fibromyalgia, too, and certain foods do seem to upset my stomach, causing ibs like symptoms. It causes a lot of pain and cramps and constipation. I tend to eat healthy. I get the pains after I have eaten. I think you need to give yourself a break. You sound like you're doing all that you can.
