really struggling to get my GP to listen to me I have ARFID (& according to her "worsening aneamia") and yesterday she told me she will not prescribe shakes (Ensure+) because "I can spend my grocery budget on buying them instead"....I'm so anxious and stressed right now...I can't afford the thing that keeps me alive!!

@complexitiesundone hugs. I completely understand the frustration when people don't understand our struggles and don't listen when we try to get a point across. Prayers for your situation to improve.

I completely understand texture issues! I've had them all my life as well as my son and granddaughter. It took me 4 yrs to get my granddaughter's PCP to take me seriously about her issues. I had to take a video of her reactions for him to understand that I was not exaggerating. It's a condition that most people don't understand. My PCP has done the same thing with certain meds (like allergy or Nexium). It's so frustrating. Just because they are available OTC doesn't mean we can afford to buy them. If insurance covers it we should be able to take advantage of it, right? Are you able to change PCP/GP? I would suggest finding one that treats patients with Sensory Processing Disorder. They would be more apt to listen to your texture issues and be more willing to prescribe the shake you prefer. Those shakes are too expensive to spend your grocery money to get them. Especially with the prices of everything rising. It's hard enough budgeting household items, groceries, and gas on a limited income without adding another high price item to it. I wonder if a Nutritionist could prescribe them for you? šŸ¤” I have no idea if they can write prescriptions or not, just a thought.

@dolphinblues I've had a nutritionist who fired me after 3 sessions telling me I couldn't follow a plan even though she did not give me one to follow and it's harder because I've not got an option over doctors as I've just got regular care now with my doctor and she is lovely but she told me that instead of using my grocery money for groceries I can use it on the shakes...like she doesn't seem to understand that I can't do that...I still need to buy other things with that money not just food...I'm at the end of my rope I'm struggling with money as it is literally will be almost 700 pounds in debt TOMORROW and feel like a total failure

Have you tried optimum nutrition serious mass ( green and black tub). Works out cheaper to make shakes from this

@Treds its not something I can tolerate at all due to texture issues
