Seeking Understanding of Severe Detachment and Memory Loss

I have not been diagnosed with DID but I have had this sense of severe detachment usually I can feel right before I go into a bad disconnection with my entire life including my way of thinking sometimes I don't remember anything other times I remember small details. There have been a few times I remember everything and then there have been times I never know it's happened until my fiance or mother points out that certain things were said or done and I have no recollection of it. Can someone whose been properly diagnosed help me understand what its like for them and if this could be one of my severe mental issues?
