I got medicine to stop drinking about half a year ago and I keep dating people who won't let me stop drinking. So I can't take my meds. I have so much depression and anxiety I just want to drink my life away. I don't know what to do anymore. any ideas?

Avoid dating for a while and think about yourself. Your life is worth more than dating is x

Always remember people places and things. If certain people places or things trigger you then try to leave it alone. I'm a recovering heroin addict and recovering alcoholic. I get it. Alcohol is usually a social thing so it's hard not to do when others are doing it.

Just curious what type of medication you were put on for that? I’d be interested in trying something like that as I’m trying to cut down as well

You should definitely aim to be in relationships with people who also avoid alchohol if it's a repeated issue. If being around it is difficult and you cannot refuse when it is offered it makes the most sense and is the most likely to help you if you hang around people who don't drink so you are no longer in that situation. You can also try to make sure they're aware that you are also not supposed to drink at all, and that you drink because you need support and help with your mental health. That way it allows you to be accountable while still surrounding yourself with people who can help you find or at least help implement better ways to get through your mental health issues and it's symptoms. Do keep in mind that your loved ones are not your therapists but they should still be supportive in whatever ways they personally can be including avoidance of putting you in situations where you feel that you need/can have alchohol when you are trying to quit.

no one should have control over you – especially when it comes to substances/intoxication and your sobriety! attempting to make you drink is a huge red flag, and they do not have your best interests and well-being in mind .

you shouldn’t ever be forced to “not drink” by anyone who actually cares about you & your well-being. in the nicest way possible, f**k those people. You deserve someone who, even if they enjoy an occasional drink, aren’t going to put you down or pressure you to do the same…that’s like dating an addict and forcing them to take their drug of choice with you! Ridiculous and disrespectful. Value yourself

@Spooxk I value myself but it's an urge I can't control they have it I want it I beg and they give it to me or offer it to me whenever they drink the last guy I was with spiked my milkshake so I'd fuck him at my dad's house in a teens room
