I'm getting ready for gallbladder removal, and I'm worried. Anyone who has already had the surgery, let me know any advice that can help me feel comfortable with going through this kind of operation.

Also fatty foods need to be eaten with caution afterwards because your body needs time to adjust to how it handles all of that again. Be aware, you and the toilet may become quite close after surgery until you figure out what you can handle and what you can't.

After surgery...BURP and burp often. Or you will be in pain!

Surgery went well and I feel like I'm recovering quite well. I have done some follow up appointments and was told "no infection, no hernia, and healing nicely". I'm also going in for a celiac test soon.

It was a good surgery for me. It definitely improved my quality of life bc my gallbladder was failing for a while. It was a pretty quick recovery from what I remember from around 7 ish years ago. The thing I will say it to be mindful of what you're eating. They fill you full of air during the surgery so you may have some stomach upset. So be sure to get fiber but don't go wild. You body will definitely process food differently from now on on. Hope it went well!

I had mine out. I have had many surgeries and it was the easiest. Just get some kind of compression shirt or something supportive to keep things still when you walk. If you have to you can even just clutch a pillow to yourself. Also put some pillows books or couch cushions under the head of your mattress to help you sleep mostly sitting. The pain was almost nonexistent unless I tried to use my abs. I feel so much better now.
@TunaGoon thank you! Maybe Buddy will have to walk himself if I get to a point I can't use my abbs.
I had mine removed when I was 16. It will be good in surgery pray to God to get you through the surgery
@kaseysimpson thank you for your prayer.
