How do you help people around you understand your disorder(s)? I have Bipolar 2 and PTSD. This morning, I had a moment because I couldn't go get donuts for mother's day because I had to go to work. I tried my best to keep in under wraps, but my mother-in-law saw it and started asking my fiancé questions. I went to her to talk about this morning, explain my side, and come to a resolution. She blew up and called me disrespectful and said I "threw the first stone." I genuinely don't know how to handle stuff like this and I had a panic attack that lasted about 25 minutes. Any advice?

I think it's more about the person your talking to than what you say. some people shut down when mental health is brought into the picture and others are very responsive. just take your time to explain calmly that although you may need some accommodations you are still a growing individual who's working on your struggles. there's not much you can do about their response but if you tell them then it's up to them to listen. I know that's not a whole lot of help but for me knowing I can't control what they do only what I do helps me feel better when things don't go my way.
