I recently was hospitalized due to mental health issues, I had to beg to get a ride from my parents to get to the ER in the first place because they don't believe that I have "good enough reason" to be depressed. during that stay, my treatment team told me that they were getting me into the Mayo Pain and Rehab clinic, that's what they had me sign papers for getting into. Last night while attempting to talk to my mom about my depression and my current feelings, she said that the hospital had me sign to get into the Mayo Psychological department for psych testing. She thinks I have munchausens because she doesn't believe I could be in this much pain and having all of these issues at my age. She's convincing my doctors that I'm not actually experiencing this pain, and they're agreeing with her. I don't know what to do anymore. I have no one that believes me, not even my doctors that are supposed to be helping me.

You need a different doctor. If they aren’t going to listen to their patient they aren’t worth your time. Hang in there! Have them make a note not to contact your parents if they aren’t going to be supportive and encouraging.

If you're in the US you can have parents excluded starting at 16

I’m so sorry you’re experiencing this, no one deserves to go through what you are. When I was under 18 I remember having the option to have visits without a parent present, is that possible for you? I also hope you’re able to get new doctors! Anyone who doesn’t believe you is a bad doctor who you don’t want on your team anyway!

Since you're an adult, she legally doesn't have to be involved in your care. As much as it could hurt, you can have your doctors get her off of any decision making. If nothing else you will be seen by the psychiatric facility as someone who is hurting. Make sure they pay attention to all of your symptoms and not just what the tests say. Fight for your right for treatment.

@Gingeralamode I'm 17, just turned 17, so my mom still has complete control over my medical care. She was even refusing me to be admitted in the first place, I had to start walking out the door in -15° weather and threatened to walk the 2 miles to the ER. It is medical neglect, but cps doesn't care

@Elliott.boyyy I honestly wish I had an answer to help you. This has to be so hard for you. If I figure anything out I will let you know.
