I met this Dr only twice but she already suggested a disorder none of my other doctors or therapist have ever suggested, am they saw me for several months 6 (months tops) I met a person twice and she thinks I have BPD but both appointments have only been intake and she doesn't know much about how I respond to things or how my symptoms show up since I've only met twice for intake. Is this normal? Also when I mentioned I had seen another psychiatrist because im trying to find the right one for me, she said that I needed to be committed to our relationship or she couldn't take me as a patient... I am as committed to her as to anyone else I've met only twice.... If she ends up not being the right fit for me I will find someone else but it felt weird that she said that . I told her I was because otherwise she wouldn't keep seeing me and I need a psychiatrist. My old one wanted me to find someone new because she only knows about SSRIs and we've tried most of those and they don't seem to help. She wants me to find someone who knows about the other types and is better familiarize with trauma.

I don't understand how a Dr can make that decision after only 2 visits. Doesn't seem right to me.

That sounds like a really uncomfortable professional relationship to even consider entering into. I wouldn't, if I were you. I'm a Master of Social Work student in a clinical, trauma-informed program, and there are sooo many red flags in your story. RUN away from that person. Find another provider before this person does serious damage to you.

A diagnosis with a personality disorder off of two visits is suspicious to me personally. PDs should not be that simple to figure out quickly. Took my therapist about a year to get on the topic of NPD with me. Also her pressuring you to be committal also seems to be a red flag.

Have you tried Sertraline and Primidone together? I have PTSD and Anxiety Panic Disorder, Fibromyalgia caused by untreated PTSD (recently was told that within the last 3 months), and Parasomnia. I'm trying to find a therapist that can help me with my PTSD. In the beginning I was told I had BPD too and was put on everything from Lithium, Respirdal, Wellbutrin, Seroquel, Prozac, etc but not until my doctor put me on 50mg of Sertraline and 50mg of Primidone but now I take 100mg of both. Hopefully that will help you

Yeah I agree with Frapples. I'm very picky when it comes to psychiatrists because of some of the ones I've seen in the past. I would not have liked that statement lol.

I think that commitment comment alone is a big enough red flag to find someone else. Navigating specialties, techniques, and general trust/vibes is a huge part of successful therapy! You can see them twice and change your mind, or for a year and change your mind. It doesn't matter. I have a friend who sees two doctors (on different schedules, for different issues). A doctor shouldn't pressure you to marry yourself to their regimen. What if you wanted a second opinion? Or don't like her treatment methods?? Not cool

Ummm I think you should already find one of they make that kind of diagnose after 2 visits then they aren't going to help you in the future
