I have been off my medication for years. I was on Depakote and Prozac. Now that I am a diabetic, I am concerned with medication that will make me gain the weight back. I am wanting to be put on a more specific drug that is just for bi-polar such as latuda ( spelling?) Has anyone tried this? if so, what has been your experience? also, does anyone have any advice on how to deal with the " episodes " without medication as there is a 2 to 3 month wait for a psychologist here.

Hi! Just wanted to throw vraylar out there. It's another newer med that has helped me alot with no real side effect issues! You can get genetic testing to find out if vraylar or latuda will be effective for you before you even start it.

Latuda can make you gain weight. Lamictal is good its a lower possibility if gaining weight.

get hospitalized if you need to. they will give you drugs there. ask your support system to watch for triggers if you are aware of what they are. im so sorry about the lack of providers near you ❤️

@spacy_bp1_transmasc I'm afraid to be hospitalized. I have responsibilities that I have to take care of on a daily basis. I don't have anyone to do them if I'm not there.

@Manna you can't do them right if you're full blown manic. i was ruining my life when i was manic. i could not take care of my responsibilities. i did not want to be hospitalized but ultimately it was all chemical at that point and the only thing that could bring me down was drugs. :(

I'm on latuda and lamictal specifically for bipolar but also other things!

i have felt latuda is really helpful! ive only been on it for a few months I'm on 80mg but it pretty much singlehandedly brought me out of rising manic symptoms that could have led to an episode. i also had really bad side effects (oculogyric crisis) on abilify and that hasn't been an issue with latuda thank god. also no increase in appetite!

@spacy_bp1_transmasc thank you. I'm going to the doctor in a couple of weeks. I plan to ask her about beingput in this.
