@Axol dude every single guidance counsoler ive had has been like that. Like no i cant just think of the fuller side of the cup youre minimizing how I feel into general pessimism its not how mental health works.

I totally can relate to this. It's literally telling a depressed person to stop being depressed, lol. Like you can't just magically undo it. Sadly, in today's eyes, it seems as though we should always be happy but that shouldn't be the case. We experience emotions and certain things for a reason. Unfortunately, toxic positivity is in instead of healthy ways to cope. I am sorry that you had to go through this. You are not alone on this journey. šŸ’—

Toxic positivity is a real thing, remember to take breaks from people that have that mindset, it isnt necessarily bad just misinformed...

Everyone around me is constantly smiling at me and asking me if im okay like its so stupid that they dont understand that no you cant cheer me up but what you can do is leave me alone for a bit so i can figure myself out.

@dadoen "leave me alone for a bit so I can figure myself out" is the best description for how to fix the issue I've heard

It's hard for people without personal experience to empathize, unfortunately.

@chyyy I know. I don't choose to feel like this. Meds help some.

@Gmatj Same, and it's hard when people don't understand that our brains make us feel this way regardless of what we want. I'm sorry you're dealing with it right now, but im glad the meds help some!
