PSA : A group of researchers at Indiana University just published a new term to describe the trauma hEDSers face due to medical gaslighting - Clinician-Associated Traumatization. DOI for the associated scientific article below. Great read *TRIGGER WARNING*: Medical gaslighting and other associated traumatic medical and psychological experiences are discussed, as well as their effects on the interviewed patients https://doi.org/10.1016/j.ssmqr.2023.100237

HECK YEAH, TINA! I'm so glad you have doctors who listen and won't gaslight you- you deserve it

@Juno2191 same to you, Luv! We all deserve to be listened to! It hurts that I'm only 38, but helps that I'm able to show (with 🩻, MRI, reports, blood work, & other exams) that prove I have ACTUAL things wrong with my body. So my process is, when I have a new Dr/specialist, I come in assertive straight away; but, make them feel that THEIR PARTICULAR ASSISTANCE in this fight is EXTREMELY DETRIMENTAL to my overall care/case. When we do this it keeps us from 'acting up' & 'being ugly', & promotes aan atmosphere of concern, for our health & they usually cannot help feeling the need to make sure you DO NOT become DEPRESSED, DISCOURAGED, or HOPELESS on their watch! #EVERYONEWANTSTOBEAHERO😉🙏🏽🫡 If they try to begin our relationship with a "THINK HORSES" mindset, I'll (in a stern, but loving, motivational tone) ask this question: "Is this the mark you want to leave in the medical community? What happened to the doctor house within you? You know, that eager and willing youthful heart & soul you had while you were in medical school? The one that wanted to change the world and save the face of medicine? What happened to that person? How did you allow yourself to become this burnt out this soon that you don't even want to bother going a little bit further, doing one more test, one more exam, a little bit more research than you 'have to'? I pray that one day you can get back to being THAT DOCTOR!" #INSPIRETHEMORMAKETHEMFEELBAD🙋🏽‍♀️💯🤦🏽‍♀️🙏🏽💪🏽✊🏽

👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽🙌🏽🙏🏽🙋🏽‍♀️🫶🏽 THANK YOU FOR THIS! I, literally, just told my pcp about this the other day at our appointment. Him & my Physical Medicine Dr are the first 2 on my team who have NEVER GASLIGHTED ME. Now, I also have an AMAZING endocrinologist WHO LISTENS & she figured out my ADRENOCORTICAL INSUFFICIENCY. I REFUSE to keep a Dr unless they are FOR ME, & ON MY TEAM! AMEN!!!🙏🏽🙌🏽 #STAYSTRONG💪🏽 #YOUAREYOURBESTADVOCATE✊🏽 #FIGHTFORYOURHEALTH🙏🏽 #FIGHTFORYOURSANITY🤲🏽
