How do you handle being in a toxic environment that causes your mental health struggles to become harder to overcome or handle on a day to day basis? Some people are in a rough situation and can't quite get out due to finances. It can be hard to cope in a toxic environment after so long.

I had this situation with my first job. Eventually had to quit because my doctor found me to be in hypertensive crisis after so many panic attacks each week. I went on disability to try to better control my anxiety but at the end of the day it was the place & the people that were manipulative, ageist, and narcissistic. Long story short, toxic places become toxic mental health, which is almost always an eventual path to physical deterioration. At a certain point you have to make the tough choice to run from that toxic place. Your brain can't function properly with constant trauma! I was always taught that it's hard to heal in the same environment we got sick in. It's so true! Get yourself to SAFETY then troubleshoot once your mind is able to breathe 👍

I had this problem with my mom. She has Narcissistic Personality Disorder, and I have BPD, so we majorly clash to say the least 😂 In her case with the Narcissism, there is no “winning” an argument or making my point, only survival. I’ve learned to keep my distance: only talk about superficial things, and I’m not home as much as I used to be. When she does get upset, I just listen and say “Okay,” and as soon as she’s done talking, I remove myself from the situation. With certain people, sometimes you have to learn that there’s no self improvement that will happen as far as them becoming a less toxic person unfortunately

I been dealing with this for years. Get to know yourself when the environment gets overly toxic go in a walk and reaffirm to yourself how amazing you are and your goals. Music. Try to stay at school friends other family. Keep working in getting away from the environment. Count down the days and keep a super facial relationship with those toxic ones around you.

Honestly, the way that I’ve been coping is with music. I can really severely overwhelmed by loud noises or stressful situations, and music has really helped me stay grounded. I suggest starting out with a long playlist of songs and giving that a shot ! :))
