I had a shity days lately. Ended up self harming twice this week. I leave it at that but my mental health hasn't been so good lately. My flashbacks suck.

There's a method for grounding I use when I'm having flashbacks or suicidal episodes? It's called the 5-4-3-2-1 Method. You find five things you can see, Four things you can touch, Three things you can hear, Two things you can smell, One thing you can taste. For sight, I try to identify the colors of things. For touch, I feel the different textures of fabric on my clothes. For hearing, I listen to music or the air conditioner in my apartment. For smell, I try to keep hand sanitizer or perfume in my bag. For taste, I'll drink water or eat a little snack (or just sort of meditate on the way my mouth tastes lol). It's okay if you don't have the ability to find all of the things, but the idea is that if you focus on your sensory experience it can help ground and stabilize you so you feel better.
