my therapist keeps telling me that my breakup is traumatic. my nervous system is messed up from this. I have chest pain severe enough that she's recommending I see a cardiologist. I know anyone would say it isn't, but its so fucking embarrassing and pathetic to me that a breakup was bad enough to aggravate my mental health so much. I feel so weak, and like I was born to be weak and there was nothing I could've done to be better.

all people are born weak. we take forever before we can even speak or walk. our experiences make us stronger, even if it doesn't feel like it right now. eventually, the pain will subside and you'll come out of it a better and stronger person. some breakups are messier than others. I don't know what happened to you that was so traumatic, but it clearly is manifesting physically. It's easier said than done, but accept your situation and let time heal your wounds. If it's giving you heart problems or affecting heart conditions that you already have, seeing a cardiologist might not be a bad idea. Doctors are there to help, not judge, and no one should be judging you for a relationship that clearly didn't work out. Stay strong, you got this💯

The effects of trauma manifest either physical, mentally, or sometimes both. It does make us weak after having suffered such a trauma. I’d keep working with your therapist to tackle it from a mental standpoint. But when things manifest physically, you need to see a doctor. The problems are still real if they came from trauma. You can have the same problems as someone who got into a car wreck, the problems just came from a different place. They’re still real. Take care of yourself and treat what needs to be treated.

I've been in this same place mentally over my ED. It's very fear based and I was so angry at myself and embaressed for so long for being scared of food of all things. Human minds can do some pretty crazy things. Mine was caused by a small experience I didn't even remember at first let alone recognized as trauma
