I struggle with flashbacks… they will just fly up and hit me in the gut or sometimes they just appear like little memories. I’m ashamed to admit these things. People will say things that are so ridiculous. Like that happened a few years ago…it’s time to move on. I need to hear from people who understand the day to day reality of this. Does anyone have self calming things they do to make it easier? Like certain songs or books I can hear or read that you’re using to be strong? Thank you i

I have daily flashbacks. I do crafts or listen to relaxing music. Do something you enjoy. Switch your thinking. Think of something positive. Choose how you want to deal with it, and it's how you deal with it is what matters. I switch my thinking, it works every time. Positive vibes sent to you

I fully understand you, after four years from my trauma I still feel shaky and get these feelings in my stomach. What I do is breathing techniques. I also would put my favorite series on and bin watch that relaxes me

I want to add. The people that make comments to you like that have ZERO understanding of the pain and drama of PTSD. I have so many just in my family that are ignorant to how it really affects us. This app is a great place to connect. I have found strength here through the words and understanding of others. Please know you are not alone!! Your struggle is not a reflection of your strength!!

Pray. Breath. I have the Bible App and I read devotionals. God is the best calmer there is.

I have them when I wake up and of course when I try to go to sleep and at night things can get dark. At this point, it’s happened so many times that I am not too bothered by it even though it’s uncomfortable. I do my best to realize that it’s just a feeling and it will pass. Kind of no judgment on it and observing it. Any of the “I should be over this by now” talk in my head is toxic for me so I’m like stfu with that.

Yes. This is very normal for someone living with ptsd. Are you in therapy at all? That would be the best way to learn coping strategies, but I'm happy to chat them
