For the past few weeks I have been having nightmares and flashbacks
I have lived my life having nightmares. A couple things that help me, not eating after 7 pm, forcing positive thoughts in my head every time a negative one comes and forcing myself to repeat positive thoughts and also I have made sure that tv shows and movies are not horror/thriller related. This has been my personal take on it. Of course I can be different for you.

I'm in the same boat nightmares always happening, I actually connected it back to certain medications I take that seem to be causing really vivid nightmares, and I realized when I take Advil pm or something similar I have nightmares the whole time I'm asleep. So I try to find alternates like the other person mentioned but mainly melatonin, or my biggest thing is trying to destress and not think about having a nightmare because I keep thinking about it and then that's what is on my mind when I go to sleep which doesn't help at all.
Make sure to have a cold room, you have nightmares more when the room is too hot! If you're still having issues with nightmares, serotonin supplements are a great natural option. You can find it at any drug store as 5 - HTP

@Nickminus so looking at the bottle of pills that I have in front of me, it says "5-HTP is a precursor to serotonin, a neurotransmitter that supports mood health and well-being" no idea how it works, but it is a supplement. I found it while looking for natural ways to help with sleep I think, cause I've tried valerian root but that didn't work for me
@weirdestpotato wait you can get serotonin supplements??
@weirdestpotato thank you!
Yes! I don’t have advice, but I was looking into signing up for EMDR for trauma
