Bitter Sweet Bipolar Diagnosis

I got diagnosed with bipolar 1, it's bitter sweet. Bitter because I know I was genetically predisposed so it was a matter of time given my childhood. But sweet in a way because it's more accurate than 'depression and anxiety'. So many things that I felt were just my shortcomings and lack of discipline. But no matter how hard I tried to do better, I would fall to either extremes. but now there's an explanation and a treatment. but to get to this point I have potentially delayed graduation from uni, and lost so much of what I had built professionally. I'm grateful to have a full time job lined up but nervous about falling short at work Just wanted to vent out. I can't tell my parents, not yet at least. I have shared with a few close people but sometimes I wish I would cease to exist.
