Looking for Endometriosis Treatment Options

Hello! I've always had really bad periods (heavy, painful, sore, physically sick, ect..) with and without birth control. Turns out that endometriosis runs in my family but if I do have it then I've heard the only thing to do for it is birth control which I'm already on and it's not helping at all, anything else besides birth control for it???

      So if you want to avoid multiple laparoscopy surgeries then yeah birth control is kinda the only thing to control it, however endo never really goes away unless you go through menopause, or have a hysterectomy. Also endo can go from one stage to another so I'd make sure you keep track of how you feel and stay on top of it.

        @tommmy a hysterectomy with it without a double oophorectomy will still leave you with potentially progressive endo because the boost of estrogen during your cycle is what causes spreading, and you'll still have to do hrt for the rest of your life to maintain normal estrogen levels. it really is an insidious disease

          @wise okay I forgot about that. I had a complete hysterectomy (ovaries, uterus, and cervix)which is what I meant to say, my bad on that.

      Have you been on progesterone-only bc? That's the only thing that helped me, and it stopped my periods completely. Turns out I'm extremely sensitive to estrogen, which is common in people with endometriosis. Your other option for treatment is surgery to physically remove some of the excess tissue, which may help with the pain temporarily or permanently
