Been on hormonal birth control (it's for pcos and cysts) for about 2 years now and I feel like my depression and anxiety have just gotten worst on it. I feel like I was a such a chill person before I got on this stuff. Would it be better to stop it for awhile (if so how long) or maybe get a lower dosage if possible. Or maybe a better alternative? I don't have medical insurance so I can't go to doctor to ask so any advice would be appreciated!

Just know that when you take a pharmaceutical for a health condition there is often unknown consequences of that until it’s too late later ( speaking from experiences). If I could turn back time I would avoid all of them and search more on the functional side for answers than treating symptoms. I literally have a condition for overuse of pain medications as they were prescribed for my extreme menstrual pain and now I can’t take any because they are known triggers for this condition. Once I figured out I was estrogen dominant ( with all the well known contaminants in our foods, soil that grows our food, water and even in the air) I’m not surprised that this was my case and after balancing my symptoms are very minimal if at there depending on how the condition that drove my imbalance is treating my body at that moment. Disease is on a cellular level driven by a few factors, oxidation/ oxidative stress (makes it hard for our body to do its daily detox) which is why toxins build up in our cells and then manifest in one or parts of the body as cancer, diabetes etc. Acidity is another major driver of disease. We are born alkaline for the most part but due to lifestyle slowly become acidic overtime. There are ways people have healed from numerous diseases and it has to do with targeting these- acidity and oxidation/ oxidative stress that is essentially inflammation or silent inflammation. Eventually inflammation turns into pain then turns into arthritis, fatigue disorders, the list is long hair google the role of acidify and inflammation in disease and you will see that there is more to this than taking a medication that treats the symptoms and not the cause. If I could go back 20 years and do over I would look into grounding/earthing and ways to return my body to a more alkaline state.

You can try switching which prescription you have because they have varying levels of estrogen. I got the copper IUD it is hormonal helps with my cysts as well but I don't have to remember the pill and it has been pretty effective at child prevention lol I am sorry you are going through that though.

There are some online sources for hormonal birth control! Prjkt Ruby is one I can think of. It sounds like it’s time to try something else, because hormonal bc can do that. I have endometriosis, and the gold standard of treatment when I was first diagnosed up to several years later was birth control 😒 Birth control works by simulating pregnancy, and I’m sure you’ve seen how common it is for pregnant people to experience changes in mood.

@EatenByWormy There was one pill that made me super aggro (maybe because it was making my anxiety worse) and another that helped with my physical symptoms for months and months…. Until it didn’t. Don’t be afraid to try something new- I stuck to pills so that I could cut off something affecting me poorly at any time.
