Mt counselor told me that when I have a panic attack, tell myself it will end. The feeling makes the panic worse. If you tell yourself, as many times as it takes, that this will end and to STOP the cycle, eventually it will stop. Also gives you something else to focus on. Tried it and it did work, pretty much. Have used this many times sense and the panic attacks got less often. Might be worth a try.
Things I have to remind myself sometimes: 1. Despite how it feels in the moment, as of this moment I have never actually died from a panic attack! 2. Every panic attack ends; I have dragged myself through, and eventually out of, every single one I have ever had. So have you. We have more power over them than it feels like we do. 2. I have panicked before and lord knows I will panic again, whether I like it or not. Avoiding important tasks to try to avoid feeling panic is futile, and only leads to more panic when the tasks become truly urgent. You can do this, with or without panic.
