I have several alcoholic people in my family, on both my fathers and mothers sides. my father would be do drunk that he wouldn't feed us on some visits with him. he would tell us we were going to get food and he would just get more booze. I'm scared bc him and do many others would drink at ANY negative thing... and I've been stressed so mutch at work and bills. I have NEVER really drank, bc if past family history. so u am a total light weight. but the last week or so I have had a drink EVERY night. yeah it was only like 3 percent. but to a " normal " drinker I feel like I had like a couple drinks... im getting really scared. any tips or help. bc im noticing that I'm starting to CRAVE alcoholic beverages. and I'm terrified šŸ˜Ø.

What helped me quit drinking was finding something else that gave me what I was looking for in the alchohol. It's so cliche, but I started pole fitness classes (working out/hobby was always suggested by my therapist) and it started to ease up my drinking. I wanted to be sober for class, and weirdly never felt the urge to drink after. I was always in a good mindset afterwards. Maybe find a new class or hobby to play around with? Alcoholism runs heavy in my family, and I didnt want to be part of it either. Good on you for recognizing that.

Iā€™m sorry youā€™re struggling but I think itā€™s so amazing that you know how addiction runs in your family and are already taking steps to protect yourself. Not everyone has that ability, you can do this, just continue to get help and support.

As someone who has addiction in my family of not only alcohol but pills and whoā€™s taken a couple swigs of something when Iā€™ve gotten down you have to figure out the issue on why you get the urge to drink and ur still in the early stages of it and u can probably get a handle on it before it gets bad maybe try and see a therapist and work on whatā€™s causing you to feel that way and to think of something else you can do when you feel stressed Iā€™m wishing you the best of luck!! And ur always free to message me ā¤ļø
