I've been on Fluoxetine for about a month now and my restless legs have gone into over drive from being on them. I'm exhausted from being kept awake from them. I have a heated massager, magnesium spray, taking magnesium supplements, exercising and stretching but I'm still waking up in the night in pain from the non-stop movements. does anyone have other remedies I can try ?

@Teags I haven't heard of the nerve conduction test, I'll look into it! I had 1 night of no RLS and thought I'd got past it then bam last night was horrendous. I may have to give in and try something else 😥

I was on fluoxetine, then I found out RLS is a side effect from the medication, so I personally do not recommend it. Sometimes, it is recommended to get a nerve conduction test. Has this ever been suggested for you? :) It is all about unfortunately trying to find the best medication for you. None of the natural remedies have worked for me :(
I actually had to stop fluoxetine because the RLS turned into a full-body spasm. I kept shaking and shaking and I couldn't stop. My mother rushed me to the ER because of it. I'd recommend asking your provider for something else. I had to take a DNA test and send in results to see what medications work well with my body and what doesn't so maybe try that too if you can! 🤗
@Jujubeezy I'll look into the DNA test, I'm in the UK so not sure how I'd go about it. My DR just gave me a blood test to check for deficiencies but I doubt anything will come back from it x
I have RLS due to Fluoxetine as well, and did not want to change meds because it's working beautifully on my depression. So my doctor put me on Ropinerole (Requip) as well, and it works amazingly well.
@Evaleastaristev thank you I'll look into that! X
my GP did recommend changing to Citalopram but I'm just hisitant due to the Fluoxitine really improving my depression and GAD 😥 and would another SSRI just be the same as I've been on sertraline in the past and I had RLS with that too x
There are other options. I'd ask about changing to another med.

Some suggestions from others experiencing restless legs include using a weighted blanket, taking iron supplements, trying over-the-counter restless leg remedies, drinking tonic water with quinine, and using a bar of soap under the bottom sheet at the foot end. Additionally, some people have found relief with medications like Baclofen or Ropinirole. It's important to consult your doctor before trying any new treatments or supplements.
