TW: Got the knowing "you're looking really good" comment from a friend yesterday. She knows about my diagnosis and has been my friend for 3 years. I've been struggling for our whole friendship. Anyways, I bet you all know how this comment stings and why it does. Feeling very large despite logic. Felt like sharing with people who understand.

I understand this and your feelings are so validš for me even tho logically knowing someone probably meant well, it makes me feel not seen and like my feelings donāt matter. Iāve realized telling the person how it makes me feel without blaming them for causing me to feel that way helps me to have compassion for myself and them, that they probably didnāt know how upsetting hearing that is and would rather actually know so they can be a better friend to me really helps break the cycle. If I stay only in logical thinking I betray my own feelings and donāt share and if I donāt share itās way more likely to keep happening. Ironically, logically speaking, it would probably do way less damage and at least bring opportunity for connection to bring up and express how you feel. Either way Iām sorry youāre feeling this way and that your friend said that.
