Other than medication, is there other treatments or anything that can help?

Me and my therapist have been working on grounding myself when my PTSD does get triggered! We've gone over strategies such as feeling my surroundings and looking for different colored things in the room I currently am in, but what's worked very well for me is smells. I have a category of "Safety Smells" that I can find in essential oils and I'll drop them on my clothes or bag every morning before I go to work or school. I find that Eucalyptus, Lavender, Lilac, and Tea Tree stand out to me and ground me the most. It's easy to get ahold of these things and it's the first thing I recommend to my friends who also have PTSD! Hope this helped you!

Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) refers to an interactive psychotherapy technique used to relieve psychological stress. So when I'm in office and I want to process an emotion or an instance that happened, my counselor will have buzzers that will go off in one hand and then the other. Before it was tapping. When we're online, I follow a dot with my eyes. It allows processing with less "static" of the other emotions or thoughts.

My favorite has been counseling. I do EMDR which is specifically for trauma. There's other types like CBT, but you may have to find the right fit for you.

@MandazInTC Thank you! I haven't really got to learn about treatments. I tried regular therapy for a while but the meds were making things so much worse. If I may ask, what is EMDR?
