So I need motivation. I was diagnosed years ago with T2 Diabetes and I have been on and off medication. I'll get motivated, get to a doctor and get on my meds, but never stick to them for more than 6 months or so. I get so upset while I'm dieting(aka eating healthy) because I can't have what I love. I'm a sweets type of girl and it kills me that I can't have what I want. Meds always make me feel gross too. My last stint on meds had me lose almost 50lbs. I've gained all that back. Any ideas and tips for how I stick to it?

You said it yourself that "it kills me that I can't have what I want." Not taking care of your diabetes will actually kill you. Diabetes make a food addiction worse because, it's proven, diabetics have a lower sensitivity to sweets. Having been T2 since 1974, I can tell you I still struggle with my love of ice cream, but I love my family and pets more. Best wishes.

I feel your pain when it comes to sweets. With splenda being used in so many things now I look for that little logo. Public no sugar added ice cream is excellent & a suggested serving size doesn't affect my sugars. I actually have to stay away from fruits or while fruit popsicle, they spoke my sugars. I don't eat the healthiest but I have gotten my sugars down & I feel pretty good. If you take metformin & eat sugar you will feel like crap. I take it at bedtime & I'm fine. I also take glimepiride, pioglitazone & insulin. Voortman sugar free cookies are really good. I do splurge & have real sugar occasionally & have to take R insulin. Walmart has a wellness app where you can track your glucose & you can set reminders to take your medicine. The first little bit back on your medicine will be the hardest but once you get yourself under control again you will feel better.
Diabetes scares me. Especially since covid is never going away and I have 3 kids that I want to be with a very long time. And I want to feel light and energetic to take them places. That's what motivates me.
Its all about how bad u want it. You have to be "on a mission" to live a healthy happy life. Otherwise it's so very hard to say No to certain foods or overeating. I lost 20lbs so far by changing little things.like regularly coke to diet coke, white bread to whole grain bread, eggs and coffee only for breakfast. And no snacks after supper. I lost 1-2 l bs a week. Slowly but it was progress.
