I've taken Trazadone since 2015 but recently it stopped working so now I'm on 50mg of Hydroxyzine. Someone told me I was possibly taking too much of my Hydroxyzine and that it was more of a temporary fix. Is that true?

My doctor has prescribed me up to 100mg per day. It’s not really temporary but it’s a replacement for heavier sleep aids such as ambien which has some adverse effects including nightmares and sleep walking/eating/driving

I'm on hydroxyzine for MCAS. It does absolutely nothing, at 100mg spread out through the day, in terms of making me tired or less anxious. Trazedone quit working to help me sleep, and once I was off it, the POTS was SO much better. You need to talk to your doctor, not this app, every med effects every person differently.

I have bipolar and It took me forever to find a treatment that worked and its still not 100% we still have to tweak it. but from my experience is that your body will get used to certain meds over time and you may have to up the dose or switch thd medication all together. my advice is listen to your body. if the med your on now is making you extremely sleepy, sluggish, or just makes you feel off talk to your dr because it maybe to high a dose or it maynot be the right med for you. with that remember it a few weeks before you will see the full effects of your new med so if you've only been on it a few days i would maybe give it some more time. (unless its just unbearable) The main thing to remember is everyones body is different and reacts to meds differently so what maybe high for some people maybe perfect for others or not high enough it depends on the individual.

Sorry, wrote for someone else and cant delete lol. What i was about to say is that I’ve been taking this medicine since last year. I started on the same dose you are taking right now and now my doctor increased the dose to 100mg per day. Haven’t heard that it is not a permanent fix. Who told you so? Is it a reliable source?

I had the same problem at first. I also read in the leaflet that it can actually do this. My solution was to take it while I stand and drink a lot of water. Have you tried this trick?

I would speak to your doctor. Hydroxyzine always used to knock me out, and my doctor wanted me to take it twice a day for my anxiety.

That is something you should definitely talk to your doctor about. They can talk you through this and properly inform you.
