Has anyone here had full mouth teeth extractions? I've been diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder called External Tooth Root Resorption. It is a very rare and aggressive disease. It has already attacked more than half of the teeth in my mouth. So far I've had 18 root canal treatments because my doctor thought it would stop the disease. It actually only slowed down the disease for a few years. Now it is starting to attack the teeth again and is faster and more aggressive. I only have 10 'healthy' teeth that have never had dental work. 7 of those teeth are hurting a lot right now with root canal symptoms. I'm terrified of losing all of my teeth. A few days ago I saw an oral surgeon for a single tooth extraction because the tooth was severely damaged and hurting more than the others. The doctor said that the disease will likely cause my teeth to be extracted one or two at a time. I'm just thinking why wait? Why put myself through more anxiety and toothaches? I'm seriously thinking about getting all of my teeth extracted and replaced with implants. Need advice and support. JJ

Personally if youve gone the wait and see approach already, i would do the extractions all at once, it saves you going under the knife multiple times risking complications or infection multiple times and it makes it so you only have to go through the pain one more time and then you can have your starlit smile and confidence and know its over with rather than doing it 5, 6 or more times over the years. However, no matter the state of your teeth i believe you should still feel confident and I think before making your final call you should talk to your drs make sure that removing all the teeth wont have any repercussions on your autoimmune disease or anything like that. But otherwise this is just my opinion and whatever route you go i wish you the best.

I had all of my teeth extracted at once plus the roof of my mouth cut down the middle & the bone shaved down. More then anything it was groce. It all healed pretty fast though.

I had lost most of my teeth one at time due to not having money to try to save the teeth. I was down to 9 and was wearing partials when I checked into getting dentures. I think the dentist wanted to pull the one or two at a time but I asked that he would do more at a time. He pulled the top teeth and was going to wait a month to pull the bottom ones when Covid closed everything down. I had to wait a few months and he went ahead and pulled the bottoms once he was able to open his office again. I now have dentures. A funny story - I was eating a pizza (I like the crust crisp) when a tooth broke off. I didn't notice until my tongue hit that space. When I called to make arrangements to have the denture repaired, I had to confess that apparently I had swallowed the tooth.😥

Having all your teeth removed in one surgery is more common than may be thought. I've done my research and it is safe not risky. Thanks for asking.

Thank you all for your replies and support. Tomato - The doctor seemed to think that each tooth will go bad eventually. He did not specify how to approach this but I got the feeling he's taking the watch and wait approach. I've done the watch and wait approach for 10 years now and I'm just tired of being in pain and treating each tooth one at a time. It's not an individual tooth issue, it's an all of my teeth issue. They need to be treated as a group. I just wish I had known sooner.

Hey JJ, please stay strong! What you’re going through isn’t easy, and I wish you all the best. What does your doctor recommend? Maybe removing too many teeth in one surgery is too risky?

Sorry to hear!! Tough choice...maybe get a second opinion? Just to see if there are any other options?
