Long-term Use of Benzodiazepines for Epilepsy: Risks and Benefits

I take onfi, a benzodiazepine, every day and have for about 4-5 years now. I love it because it helps my seizures so much! I just have to be very aware of refills so I don’t run out.

Well clonazapam helps me with my anxiety, moods, migraines and I’ve tried everything and I’m staying on this med. I’m not dependent on it. I take it as needed and it helps 100%.

Pharmacy Technician here!! The drug class that benzodiazepines are in can cause dependence. taking them daily can cause dependence in some people. you may notice your pharmacy being more strict with those medications and asking for a valid ID when it’s picked up per state laws.

I'm on benzodiazepines for my epilepsy and I have 2 rescue medications that are benzodiazepines.
