Can Singulair/Montelukast Cause Suicidal Thoughts?

Anyone else experiencing nightmares/sleep issues on singulair? I’ve been on it for 1 month, trying to determine if I should stop it or stick it out.

I just want to share an experience so other people know possible side effects. I started Singulair when I was about 7. I started having behavioral issues almost immediately, tried to throw myself out of a 2nd-floor window/was suicidal, was very moody and started struggling with my mental health/depression and issues with joint/muscle pain and soft bones, I attempted suicide 4 more times before I was 15. After my 5th suicide attempt and when google was more accessible, my mom found out some info on Singular. She read testimonials from other parents of young kids that attempted or died by suicide while on the med. She thought that is what had been happening to me since I changed so much over the years. She contacted the FDA who was doing an investigation on Singulair. A number of kids died while on the med. So my mom decided to take me off of it. Crap got worse. I started having seizures after about a week of being off of it. Became suicidal even more so and attempted again and was interrupted in the act, which landed me in the psych ward at 15. I became achy and even more depressed for about 2-3 months. Then things got better. I was having the issues with soft bones, the pain I had improved. My depression greatly improved and I wasn't suicidal anymore for quite a while. All the issues that I struggled with with my mental and physical health improved or disappeared. I was so ill for months after stopping and years before while taking it. I almost died many times. It was bad. If it weren't for my mom doing research, we would never have known. I would have killed myself. For the years after we participated in research about Singulair. Now there is a warning on the med and listed side effects regarding mental health. I know people on it who were never warned about the health problems it caused. Doctors still don't talk about it. Some might not even know about these side effects. But they are very real. My life was different many years post-Singulair. If you need more info, do a google search about Singulair's side effects. Getting off it will save/change your life. My life wasn't perfect forever after stopping and years later I started having issues again for different reasons. But I was never again as suicidal as I was when I was taking Singulair and my depression hasn't been as extreme as it was at that time. I don't know if it caused my future issues, but it ruined my bones, I know that. I just want to put this info out there. If you are experiencing these issues while taking Singulair, please talk to your doctor about discontinuing it. Don't let it take your life. Moral of the story: Singulair causes intense mental health and physical health issues. It can kill you. Please get off of it and try something different, it's not worth it.
