I've taken hydroxyzine and Zoloft for my anxiety in the past, but neither helped. So my question is what would be a good medication I could try out that's stronger then those?

I tried buspirone but it did nothing for me. Just another reason, I believe, that we need more research done on individual physiological reactions to drugs…. Why does it work for you but does nothing for me?

I have to take 100 MG of hydroxyzine to feel remotely normal

Everyone’s body chemistry is different. What works for some may not work for you. Work with your Dr and be patient. Often it’s about getting to the right dosage. Hang in there it will get better. 🙏🏽

Totally agree with this sentiment. I've tried other meds in the past besides Cymbalta that I'm on now. Buspar - dizziness, so I couldn't keep taking it because I couldn't function being dizzy on it. Prozac - did nothing for me really. Lexapro - worked for about a year on a 10 mg dose, they tried to up my dose to 20 mg but that just made me apathetic so had to stop. Hydroxyzine - would knock me out, only useful if I had an anxiety attack at bedtime. Viibryd - made me feel nauseous so I couldn't function, had to stop taking it. Cymbalta - actually helps though it did decrease my sex drive/libido. I'm on 30 mg currently.

TW; s*icide I take buspirone for my anxiety and it has really helped. I used to take lexapro which made it worse and a lot of s*icidial thoughts but I stopped. I take one in the morning before work and one at night before bed. It helps ease my mind of worrying and stress.

I can only speak for myself, so here is my experience after many years of trying difference antidepressants: Prozac- total failure; lexapro-failure, no change at all; Zoloft-worked for alleviating panic attacks and anxiety but didn’t help much with my depression; cymbalta-is the only medication that I would ever declare that has helped both my mood/depression and anxiety. I wish I would have tried it earlier.

Say no to Cymbalta!! Detox off of it is horrible!!!! You cannot just stop taking it. I wish my Rheumatologist had told me before I started taking it 7 years ago. Oh and don’t miss a dose or you will get the “zap” as it is known in your brain

Lexapro worked really well initially and then a pandemic. I still have anxiety but it would be way worse if I wasn't on it. I haven't had a big freak out driving in snow storms. And while I can still tell the anxiety is there it is not as big a hindrance.

I’m on Lamotrigine (typically used to treat bipolar but I just have major depression and anxiety) and it’s a mood stabilizer and it works WONDERS for me.

I have been on zoloft a year now and it works great. I was on Prozac for like 13 years and then it stopped working. Lexapro was a nightmare for me. Cymbalta helped for awhile. It really depends on each person. Just try them till you find 1 that works for you

Venlaflaxine worked for me but everyone is different

Lexapro has worked like a champ for me. I started off on 10mg a day and got moved to 20mg and if I need it I can be moved to 30 or 40. 20 has been working well for me and I would highly recommend trying it.

Not sure if it would be stronger but different meds work for different people... Cymbalta works for me. Or you could try a combination of meds. My partner has found a balance of multiple meds that work for him.
