Does anyone else get nonverbal when they have a flashback? Does anyone have any tips on overcoming this? - Hope you are all well ❤️‍🩹

      We get non verbal when we're really run down and mentally tired so it's the same for us with flashbacks too.. we don't know how to deal with them and we often get them when we lay in bed at night

      The trick is to stop the flashbacks and then there's no reason you'd become nonverbal. To stop the flashbacks you need a combination of medication and therapy. My medication is constantly being increased because I have MDD that is probably untreatable. Therapy has been working for me recently with my new therapist so I'm hopeful

      Yes. Not that long ago I was stuck in a flashback unable to move or speak. I don't know how to overcome it yet but you ain't alone in this

        @Len Sometimes I don't even know what the flashback is? I just know I've disconnected and I almost feel like idk where I am and I just don't feel anything and I become unaware of my surroundings. If that makes sense.

          @Nanokins I definitely get that. If you would be alright with it, we should talk and connect. I haven’t found anyone else that also has been nonverbal from flashbacks, panic attacks and dissociation. I just had racing thoughts a couple days ago and I haven’t been able to speak since and I didn’t even freeze up. I just got out of a two hour long staring match with my wall in the living room actually too. As for help, I’m not sure. I’ve only started going nonverbal consistently for the last 3 weeks or so. I have started smoking weed to even it out and sometimes I find that I’m able to speak afterwards, but not all the time. I’m also starting therapy soon, so hopefully I can get help that way too. As for communication, I’ve started to learn American Sign Language (ASL) so that me and my roommate can communicate a bit better then using a whiteboard or texting him.

          @Nanokins maybe you're experiencing dissociation?
