I kind of wish people would see me as more than just one person. like a legitimate group of separates. I feel invalidated when assumed to be just one but im also scared of people knowing i am a system.
I get that. When we told the people around us about our diagnosis, we were hoping to be treated as individuals rather than just all the same person. It was disappointing, to say the least.
This is complicated for us also. A lot of us donāt feel safe enough to express our plurality to those in our life but also not being recognized for your individual identities and motivations is painful and isolating. I hope you find the right kind of community and relationships for you to all feel both safe and recognized.
I have told the immediate people that needed to know (family and one friend) and I wish for the opposite. I'm no longer one person to them and they don't even know my system. It's really aggravating. IM STILL ME.
