I found that if they deny a suggestion like that, it's often because of stigma. They think they're Normal and their parents always said they were Normal, so why would something be wrong with them?
It might sound silly, but along with suggesting therapy for diagnosis I would try to assure them that it isn't wrong or bad to have ADHD/get help for it.
