Had therapy and ended on a rock bottom emotional note. Opened the door about the assault and now I am trying to close the door on it because I need to take of my partner at the moment. any advice would be great.

If you’re trying to find a way to contain the painful open memory, a technique in trauma therapy is to create a container. For some people, it works to have that in your mind—imagine taking those feelings, thoughts, and emotions associated with the trauma, and closing it in whatever container you choose. For me, I like to physically write some of that down so it’s not part of my cognitive load; then, I put it in a container I decorated myself. I usually go over those with my therapist later when I’m ready.
